The Bauhaus originated in Weimer in 1919 as a new design school. In 1924 the Bauhaus moved to Dessau. This could offer the Bauhaus a new school building. The Bauhaus did not have there own place for architecture until 1927. The Bauhaus building had workshops that they were joined together in the school. The city of Dessau sponsored the Bauhaus with money so they could build the new school it was very close to the train station and also with the Masters House. Walter  Gropius gave his architectonic ideas, he first put into practice before WW1 in the construction of the Fogus, it was a shoe factory in Alsfeld. After Walter Gropius gave up his place of a director of the Bauhaus in 1930 Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe took his place.
